About LondonEnglandfans

LondonEnglandfans are not a closed shop.  We do not have members or a membership and we do not restrict discussions to subjects that may have some people feel we are playing at being stooges for the authorities.

Our meetings are free to anyone who wants to attend to turn up to.  Even though the main topics of discussion from one meeting to the next are pretty much decided some time in advance, anyone at the meeting can ask a question of the panelists or even other audience members.

The meetings usually take on a 'Question Time' type feel to them, with a panel at the front, a chairperson and the punters i.e. you and me, taking on the role of the audience.

Over the past 6 years, (the first meeting took place in March 2000 in the run up to Euro 2000) we have had panelists from the FA, the police, the Home Office, the Japanese tourist board, journalists, Trevor Brooking, the Portuguese British Council, German dignitaries and England fans to name just a few.

Some of the discussions have sometimes got a bit heated now and then, as obviously with such a diverse range of opinions and the tongue being loosened by the odd pint or two not everyone is in agreement all the time.

However I, and I'm sure the majority of people who've attended these meetings will feel, there's not a lot wrong with that and I personally know that I've learnt a lot over the past few years from attending these meetings.

More importantly than any of this though is the amount of new friends that I have made through attending these meetings.  Once the Question Time part of the meeting has finished at about 9pm there is the best part of the evening still to come.

Suffice to say, not too many of us manage to leave the pub much before 11.20pm
